Last year’s NSA revelations by Edward Snowden brought to light our expectations of privacy in America. While most of us willingly make public more information about ourselves than ever on social media sites, we still like to believe we are in control of what we share and with whom. The fact that our government, and who knows who else, is able to listen in, read, and watch just about everything we do is disturbing trend in 21st century America and something we believe every American should be concerned with. The fact that all of this is being done under the guise of fighting terrorism shouldn’t be an automatic green light to intrude on every aspect of our freedom and privacy. Afterall, what freedoms are we protecting if we eliminate them to keep ourselves “protected”? We thought it timely as start our July 4th weekend to share this infographic from the folks at Hotspot Shield showing how we cherish and at the same time are giving up our privacy. We applaud the recent Supreme Court decision as well, compelling search warrants for mobile device searches.
