Ever visit one website and see ads for that website everywhere else you visit for weeks to come? Kind of creepy isn’t it? Especially when that web visit might have been for something a little less than G rated. Even without the potentially embarrassing visit to some tawdry website, what if you were visiting a website in search of a gift for your spouse’s upcoming birthday or anniversary?  Keeping that search and the resulting ads a secret might make lots of work and make you look like you have something to hide, which you actually do.

What about eCommerce sites that keep track of every item you look at and then email ads for those items? Or sites that pop-up chat windows while you are surfing? There are a lot of things that creep people out that are meant to increase sales. Are the websites actually being creepy? Or are we just taking it that way. The folks at Ometria have put together this infographic detailing what their survey respondents find creepy about eCommerce sites.
