I remember hearing about the growing flood of information we as a society were generating since I was in grade school. Turns out my school teachers were right, though what they thought was a flood then is a trickle by today’s standards.. Consider that from the dawn of human time some 24,000 years ago to roughly the start of the 21st century, humans generated 5 exabytes of data. What’s an Exabyte? 10 to the 18th power or 1 billion gigabytes.  That’s a lot of data, right? Turns out we create that same amount of data every couple of days anymore.
