Talking to and with teens is very different than adults. We all remember what it was like being a teen. It is a time to be a bit rebellious and to exert independence from their parents. Teens tend to be early adopters. They show that independence and their early adoption trends in music and in fashion. They are also early adopters in social media. Facebook started off as a social media site for college students and expanded to high schools before opening to the general public. As parents become members of Facebook and become “friends” with their children, teens started looking at other sites in which to more freely converse with friends and peers. 50% of parents joined Facebook to keep tabs on their children. Yes, Facebook is getting older. While some teens are closing their accounts, Facebook is still used by 89% of teens.
