Cinco de Mayo is one of those holidays, like St. Patrick’s Day that is celebrated with more festivities in the US than the purported home country. Cinco De Mayo is NOT Mexican Independence Day, but the celebration of Mexican heritage commemorating the victory of the Mexican Army over the French at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.
