Where social media was once a thing businesses were able to casually and occasionally participate in and still be considered cutting edge, today, that mountain of data is quickly becoming unmanageable for many. Where most of us wear a number of hats in our own businesses, it can be a daunting challenge to keep up with what is happening not only in our own businesses, but keeping abreast of what our industries are doing, our competitors are doing and what the world of social media is doing and evolving towards.
Take for example the fact the every minute of every day over 500,000 comments are posted on Facebook. Or that close to 350,000 tweets are posted on Twitter, or 2,000 people check in at a place of business on Foursquare. Monitoring social media is becoming ever more complex and time consuming, which is why more businesses are spending more time or hiring more people to keep abreast of what is being said out there.
Here is an infographic from the folks at Evzdrop showing how we are drowning in data.
