Google is not known for standing still or resting on their laurels. That goes even more so for their search algorithms. Search is a constant cat and mouse game with Google trying to stay a step ahead of those who would take advantage of the (for the most part) semi-secret algorithms. As web sites discover ways to be seen and indexed by Google that doesn’t have to do with providing good, fresh, relevant content, Google has to change how it looks at websites and correct those omissions to try and provide the best organic search results possible. Throughout most of 2011 Google implemented a major algorithm change called Panda and continued to tweak it throughout the year. A lot of websites who were one day filled with lots of visitors found themselves the next with those visits dramatically reduced. Websites large and small scrambled to try and fix how their sites were seen by the search giant. Here is an infographic by highervisibility.com showing a lot of the milestones during the year of the Panda…..2011. How did these updates affect your website and what have you done to improve your ranking and visibility?
