The annual Consumer Electronics Show starts today in Las Vegas (January 10-13). The CES show is the largest of its kind, but is seeming to lose steam as many large players are opting to create their own events on their own timelines these days. Microsoft recently announced that 2012 is their last year showcasing their products at CES. Even still, the CES show expects over 130,000 attendees at this year’s event.
For the first time in a long time, the AVN (Adult Video News) Adult Entertainment Expo have separated their shows. For years the two shows unofficially co-existed and a lot of people traveled to Las Vegas under the guise of seeing the newest in consumer electronics, only to spend an equal amount of time visiting the more lurid attractions of the porn industry at their show. It will be interesting to review the attendance numbers of both shows now that they are being presented on very different weeks. AVN runs January 18-21.
