Social media can be a powerful medium. While we often think of social media as an online forum to post a picture of how our bowl of Alpha-Bits cereal spelled out the formula for a new super-conductor for cold fusion or as a place to mourn the latest pop or movie star to pass away, social media has the power to move people, nations, and corporations as never before. We’ve seen how Twitter and Facebook helped upset the status quo in the Middle East and make possible the changes in Tunisia and Egypt, as well as act as a way of communication in countries like Libya and Syria too.

On a less lethal more commercial front, social media has been the point of focus in changing the minds of corporate giants from Bank of America to GoDaddy,  as well as many others. Social media was what lead to tabling of SOPA and PIPPA earlier this year as well. This infographic from FrugalDad shows the power of social media in shaping how corporations big and small have to listen to their customers.
