To those who stubbornly think Facebook is a fad, you are right…Facebook is a HUGE fad. Will the website be as massive five years from now? Who knows? In technology, things can change awful fast. Remember MySpace? The question is not which website is king….or queen. Just like Miss America, the Super Bowl, the World Series, and politics, things change, names change, even individuals change. People do not.
Market research has always been about people. As much as we like to think we are individuals, we are all pretty much part of the crowd. Marketers know that and want to be where the right crowd for them is. Social media is very measurable, and people do the same thing online they’ve done for decades around the water cooler, share. We share experiences both good and bad. Since 90% of people trust peer reviews and recommendations, marketers are watching us online and want to help move us towards recommending and reviewing their places or products positively. Here is an infographic by teelident, a social community software provider showing us how marketers look at our time online with social media.
