Who among us has never been hit by some sort of computer virus? There are all sorts of nasty programs out there designed to create havoc one way or another across as many computers as these software files can propagate on. Some were written as tags, to do nothing more than to demonstrate the programmers ability to infect other machines. Other viruses are much more malicious, written to steal credit card numbers, or erase machine hard drives. Computer viruses cause over $14 billion dollars in damage worldwide each year due to lost productivity, stolen information, labor costs to rebuild systems, and even destroyed hardware, according to Computer Economics. Here is an infographic from the security company F-Secure showing some of the more infamous viruses over the last 25 years. What anti-virus programs do you use to help keep your systems safe?
