Most of know Groupon or Living Social. Deal sites such as these have proliferated over the last couple of years so much that there are now over 3,000 daily deal sites in the US and many more around the world as well. Groupon, the largest daily deal site had revenues of over $120 million in August a significant increase from July at just over $106 million. Groupon is positioning itself to go public soon. Americans love to save a buck…even if it costs us money to do so sometimes. It use to be enough when someone complimented you on a suit that you might say, “Thank you, it’s an Armani.” Now we almost instinctively say something like, “Thank you, it’s an Armani….I got it for 40% off at _________” as the savings somehow prove a new skill, our shopping prowess.
